BTRDA 2025 Calendar

Since the BTRDA Gold & Silver Star Rally Championships were first introduced in 1953, the BTRDA ‘Stars’ have become some of the most sought-after accolades in British rallying and are worn with pride by those whose efforts have deemed them worthy of the title. Joined, more recently, by the Bronze Star Championship in a no-less keenly fought series for 1400cc cars, the calendar of events is eagerly anticipated by prospective competitors.

FUCHS LUBRICANTS BTRDA GOLD STAR® CHAMPIONSHIP

Since transferring their allegiance from Ford to Skoda at the beginning of September, Matthew Hirst/Declan Dear have been in imperious form, setting a series of fastest times on the Woodpecker Rally, winning the Trackrod Forest Stages and now, to finish off their Protyre BTRDA Rally Series campaign, taking victory on the Visit Conwy Cambrian Rally. Last year’s winners, Russ Thompson/Steve Link were 3rd overall in their Lancer EVO9 and, in so doing, increased their Fuchs Lubricants BTRDA Gold Star Championship points tally by one which was all that was needed to deny the flying Hirst/Dear runners-up spot!

Ingram Wins BRC

Ingram, a former FIA European Rally Champion, piloted his Michelin-shod Toyota GR Yaris Rally2 across the famously demanding North Wales stages with perfect precision, keeping his nerve during a rally-long battle with three other title hopefuls. But Ingram was able to pull out a crucial lead in the afternoon, securing the rally victory and in the process clinching the BRC Championship crown.

STIG BLOMQVIST TO ENTER CAMBRIAN RALLY

RALLYING legend Stig Blomqvist will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of his 1984 World Rally Championship win by competing on October’s Visit Conwy Cambrian Rally. The popular Swedish driver will be in a specially prepared 1964 Mini Cooper S sponsored by Mini Spares Centre, in association with BMW/ Mini, for his only competitive rally outing in the UK this year. His co-driver will be Paul Morris, whose knowledge of the North Wales Forests will doubtless enable Stig to demonstrate his prowess to the full.

LONGER YET COMPACT ROUTE FOR CAMBRIAN

A LONGER route, reduced road mileage, and exceptional gravel stages, including one of 16 miles, hold promise for a challenging Visit Conwy Cambrian Rally in the autumn. Organisers North Wales Car Club say the route is set to be one of the toughest, yet most compact in recent years, with a ratio of two to one road miles versus stage miles. Discussion are at an advanced stage with Natural Resources Wales to secure stage mileage of 55 to 60 miles.

ITV4 set to screen Probite British Rally Championship in 2024

The Probite British Rally Championship [BRC] will return to free-to-air terrestrial television in 2024, after signing a multi-year deal with ITV4 and ITVX to broadcast the six-round series across the UK and the Republic of Ireland. An enhanced media package for the UK’s premier rally championship will include a dedicated one-hour highlights show on ITV4 after each round of the series to be broadcast at prime time with further repeat broadcasts and an end of season round-up programme.
