"It’s a real pinch-me moment to compete in my home rally after years of being a fan!" – Sven Grube

Social Media star and 22-year-old rally driver Sven Grube from North Wales is gearing up for his debut in the legendary Cambrian Rally. After a thrilling first year in stage rallying, Sven is ready to tackle the world-renowned gravel stages, upgrading from his Mini Cooper to the powerful ex-JWRC M-Sport Ford Fiesta R2.

"This is the biggest rally of the year for me," Sven shares. "The stages are world-class, and having watched the Cambrian Rally for most of my life, the chance to now compete is something truly special."

Grube’s rally journey began as a lifelong enthusiast, but now he’s transitioning from the spectator stands to the driver's seat.

Sven recalls his earliest memories of the Cambrian Rally: "Andy Burton in his Peugeot 306 at Woollen Mill hairpin—I can still hear that car today!"

Excited but cautious about his first time on gravel, Sven has been preparing with a pre-event test at Phil Price Rally School and studying onboards from top drivers. His strategy? "I’ll aim to finish strong, see where we stand after the first loop, and hopefully push harder in the afternoon."

Partnering with Conwy Brewery, a local North Wales business, Sven is not only promoting his home region but is also focused on getting a solid result for his team. "It’s been brilliant working with Conwy Brewery, and I hope to make them proud on the gravel."

Looking ahead, Sven plans to gain more experience on gravel, with his eyes set on BTRDA rounds and bigger championships in the future. "Once I’ve done my first gravel rally, I don’t think I’ll be able to stop!"
