Posted on June 11, 2026

Many of you know Alyn Edwards, a legendary figure in British motorsport, best known for his decades of service as the Clerk of the Course for the Cambrian Rally.

Key Achievements

  • Decades of Leadership: He took over as Clerk in 1984, guiding the event into a premier round of the BTRDA and, eventually, the elite British Rally Championship (BRC) in 2019.
  • WRC Experience: His logistics expertise led him to also serve as a Clerk of the Course for Wales Rally GB on the world stage.
  • Green Champion: He pioneered environmental initiatives for the rally, pushing for carbon offsetting and FIA environmental accreditation in the North Wales forests.
  • Route Master: As a former competitor, he used his deep local knowledge to design compact, punishing, and world-class all-gravel stages.
  • Family Legacy: He is the father of three-time British Rally Champion Matt Edwards, who won his home event multiple times under his father's tenure.

Though he has stepped back from day-to-day operations, Alyn remains a vital Ambassador for the event, ensuring its continued growth and legacy

Alyn now faces his biggest challenge, dealing with Parkinson's and in true Alyn Edwards spirit he's taken on the challenge head on with a sponsored 5 mile walk.

Alyn show's up every week, to fight back. Despite the challenges, he show's up 2-3 times a week and gives 100% effort in every session. No excuses, no hesitation. Just hard work, determination and the mindset to keep pushing.

From battle ropes and slam balls, to box jumps and conditioning work, he attacks every challenge head on 💪

Now he's taking things further by running/walking 5 miles around Alyn Waters at the end of June, to raise money for Parkinson's UK and help support the search for better treatment, and one day, a cure.

There's currently no cure for Parkinson's, but that doesn't mean the fight stops.

Please help support Alyn's journey by sharing this post, spreading awareness and donating if you can. Every bit of support means the world 💙
