Cambrian Rally

Compact Cambrian Route Could be a Winner.

Posted on August 13, 2021

The 66th running of the event on October 30, is again a round of the British Rally Championship together with the MRF BTRDA, Pirelli Welsh Stage, and ANWCC championships, and the organisers, North Wales Club are optimistic that it will prove to be one of the best yet.

Despite the difficulties of planning during a pandemic, they have put together an attractive route comprising a total of 175 miles including 44 stage miles. This will comprise two runs each in Gwydir, Penmachno, and Alwen, and the final challenge will be an entirely new Tarmac stage which has only been used before on road rallies.

Joint clerk of the course, Alyn Edwards said he believes it will be a popular formula: “All stages are over six miles and because some sections haven’t been used for the past two or three years they are all in excellent condition,” he commented.

It’s hoped that subject to Covid restrictions the start and finish will again be in Llandudno, with overnight parking for competitors available in the multi storey facility at the town’s Victoria Centre shopping mall.

In what has been a very diificult year, the organising team say they are very grateful to the continued support of Conwy County Borough Council, Llandudno Town Council, the Welsh Assembly Government, and also Llandrillo College which will host both the service park and rally headquarters.

Rally Guide 1 for the event is now available and further information can be found at www.cambrianrally.co.uk.
