Cambrian Rally - 13th February 2016

Pirelli have confirmed that they will continue to sponsor the MSA Welsh Forest Rally Championship in 2016, their fifth year supporting the series

The tyre manufacturer’s announcement comes following a season in which interest in the Championship has grown significantly with seven out of the eight rounds seeing more than 30 registered contenders taking part.

While 36% of the registered drivers chose to run Pirelli tyres, between them they collected 75% of the podium places during the year and 11 of the 13 major end of season awards went to Pirelli shod competitors.

Welcoming Pirelli’s continued involvement with the series Championship coordinator David Evison commented, “We are delighted. We couldn’t ask for a more supportive partner and it is recognition of the success of the series and the individual events involved. 2015 has been a particularly good year for the Championship with strong support from competitors, for which we are also very grateful.”

He added, “Our challenge as organisers now is to build on the success of this year and we are already working hard towards that. Pirelli’s continued involvement will certainly help.”

The 2016 series will open with the Cambrian Rally on February 13th and will once again consist of 8 rounds. The full calendar, subject to MSA approval, is:
